The Wife's Guide

Have you ever gone on a trip, not quite sure where you were headed and got lost? Maybe you took a hike in the woods and got turned around? If only you had used your GPS or a map, or even had a personal trail guide to show you a clear path.

I see this same situation in a lot of marriages. We try to navigate through each day, trial, or season without any help from our personal trail guide, "The Holy Spirit." Does this resonate with you at all?

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Where are all the Titus 2 women? The older married ladies are supposed to be showing the younger married ladies how to navigate through and understand their role more as a wife.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Titus 2:3-5

Having a map to guide you along your life's journey would assure that you arrived at the correct place, hitting every destination with minimal problems. Guess what?

God has given us instructions in his word to help guide us. We don't want to hear terms like submit or be submissive. But God has an order and a position for each and every one of us.

He designed women to manage the home, be a helper to their spouse, and a teacher to the younger women.

You may be wondering what does this looks like...

Honor your spouse by allowing him to fail, letting God be the enforcer, thanking him, praising him in public, and watching the tone of voice.

Respect your spouse by honoring him.

Submit to your spouse by respecting your husband desire to lead the family and allowing him to do it.

I challenge you to read and study Ephesians chapter 5 with your spouse.
