Power Up - Immune Boosting Power

It is no secret that the world is under attack with our immune system directly on the bullseye. Most of the world is feeling the effects of COVID-19. It has single-handedly stopped the US in its tracks along with our economy as well. It is strange how fast one virus can bring most everyone and everything to a screeching halt. You may be searching for ways to stay healthy by protecting yourself and your family during these pressing times. Here are some ways I am boosting my Immune System using essential oils,

supplements, diet, and exercise.

What Are Essential Oils

Essential oils are compounds extracted from the plants. They are the lifeblood of plants and are distilled from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, fruit, rinds, resins, and herbs. I believe plants are a part of God's provision for us.

You will find essential oils used throughout history.

"...Their fruit will be used for food and their

leaves for medicine."

Ezekiel 47:12

Some Immune Boosters

Herbs:

Echinacea is a powerful constituent that may provide many benefits to your immune system.

Published in the Journal of Lancet Infectious Diseases, the University of Connected determined that:

  • Echinacea lessens the chances of catching a common cold by 58 percent.

  • Echinacea reduces the duration of the common cold.

Elderberry syrup is a favorite in my house. Throughout history, these great berries were used for supporting the immune system. The "father of medicines," Hippocrates, used elderberry because of its health benefits, including its ability to fight colds, flu, allergies, and inflammation. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15080016

Diet

Foods high in vitamin C help contribute to a strong immune system, such as:

  • citrus fruits, including orange, lemon, and grapefruit

  • guava

  • green and red bell pepper

  • pineapple

  • mango

  • honeydew

  • parsley

Beta Carotene has powerful antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and fight oxidative stress.

When searching for foods rich in beta-carotene, look for leafy greens, yellow, orange, and red fruits and veggies.

  • carrots

  • pumpkin

  • sweet potato

  • red bell peppers

  • kale

  • spinach

  • collard greens

Supplements

It can be hard to get every nutritious source from our foods today because of the toxins that have polluted our soil. Supplements can be a great source of minerals and vitamins to help boost our immune system.

I purchase most of my supplements from Young Living Essential Oils. They stand behind their products and deliver what I believe to be a pure product.

Here are supplements you will find in my medicine cabinet.

Probiotics are bacteria that line your digestive tract and support your body's ability to absorb nutrients and fight infection. You have more probiotics in your gut than cells in your body! Probiotics help immune function and healthy digestion. A fun fact to learn is, 80% of your immune system is located in your gut! Did you know that our digestive system is the second largest part of our neurological system? That is why the stomach is called our second brain. The longevity of our immune system needs to maintain a healthy gut.

Young Living even has a probiotic your kids will love taking. MightyPro is a unique, synergistic blend of prebiotics and probiotics in a supplement specially formulated for children. Packaged in easy, one-dose packets that can be taken almost anywhere you go, this supplement features over 8 billion active, live cultures to support digestive and immune health.

OmegaGize from Young Living Essential Oils combines the power of three core daily supplements-omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin D-3, and CoQ10 (ubiquinone). These supplements are combined with an essential oil blend to create an omega-3, DHA-rich fish oil supplement that may support general wellness.

Essential Oils

Oregano essential oil is a go-to in my house when cold and flu season comes around because it is known for its healing and immune-boosting properties. Its antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, so it can fight infections naturally. You can put 5 drops in your diffuser to breathe in this powerful essential oil or place 2 drops in a carrier oil and rub on the bottom of your feet.

Eucalyptus essential oil can help fight the effects of common colds, flu, and other respiratory systems. Diffusing Eucalyptus can work as a natural decongestant and expectorate. You can also put 3 drops of Eucalyptus oil in half a teaspoon of any preferred carrier oil and administer it on your chest area or the bottom of your feet. You can also mix 2 drops of the oil to a hot tub to absorb its immune system enhancing effects.

Lavender can be vital to boosting our immune system because of its ability to relax the mind and allowing for a good night of sleep. Getting enough sleep each night can give our immune system the energy it needs.

Exercise and proper nutrition keep your body healthy, which is vital for your immune system. You can help your body get the nutrients it needs by incorporating some of the things discussed in this post.
